I was born in Hong Kong, and educated in Hong Kong, UK, and Australia. I qualified as a physiotherapist and practised in various government hospitals in Hong Kong. I then taught physiotherapy at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (then the Hong Kong Polytechnic), which made me become interested in the process of teaching itself, so interested that I studied education, eventually obtaining my PhD in education. I subsequently became a staff developer, working with university teachers from all disciplines to teach and assess students more effectively.

All this time, though, I had this passion for silver wire jewellery, attending workshops in jewellery making and designing and selling my own work. It was like living in two parallel universes. Then the parallels lines did meet: in 2003, I resigned from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to join my partner in Australia. I now have the best of both universes. I make and design my own jewellery full-time and I use my expertise in education to run workshops, helping other people make and design their jewellery.
